Gene Glenn Collier, 64, of Summerville, widower of Laura Mildred James Collier, died Saturday morning, August 24, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 11 o'clock in Metro North Church, 109 Central Avenue, Goose Creek. Burial, with military honors, will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock this Wednesday evening. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mr. Collier was born August 29, 1937 in Burlington, North Carolina, a son of the late Robert Glenn Collier and Lucille Cole Collier. he graduated from Trident Technical College. Mr. Collier was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a retired outside machinist with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Surviving are a son, Wayne Collier of Kingsland, GA; 3 daughters, Dee Jarrard and her husband Andrew of Lake City, FL, Tonya Thomas and her husband Joe of Goose Creek, Teresa Yergin and her husband Jimmy of McClellanville; 9 grandchildren, Samantha Telken of Summerville, Rachel and Nikki Collier of Summerville, Christopher, Tiffany, and Conner Jarrard of Lake City, FL, Rebekah and Ashton Thomas of Goose Creek, Sarah Yergin of McClellanville;one great-grandchild, Tristan Telken of Summerville; one brother, David E. Collier of Wilmington, NC. He was predeceased by a sister, Stephanie Fulcher.
