Interesting idea for a web site. I didn't see anything for Code 106, Environmental. Unknown to me at the time, Charleston's closing was to be a major turning point in my life. Given few options as closure loomed closer, I opted to seek a job in Japan and was accepted. That was back in '96. Emanating directly from that choice came a beautiful new wife, 2 promotions I could never have realized in Charleston, and a new life filled with hope and joy.

I was sorry to see the shipyard close, but it had far reaching benefits for me .  I wish the best for those who are still trying to make sense of it all and hoping to make headway into a new career. It was a big decision for me that could just as easily been the worst choice I ever made. I consider myself lucky.
